Beach & bathing

The neighbouring holiday resorts of Scharbeutz and Haffkrug are joined by a beach that is one of the Baltic Sea's most beautiful. Six kilometres long, it is stone-free and gently sloping. In white grooves that can be felt under bare feet, the sand patterns the floor of the clear Baltic Sea water and has become synonymous with a holiday in Scharbeutz.

Directly on the Scharbeutz pier lies the activities beach with the Baltic Sea grandstand and Baltic Sea lounge. It's where major sporting events, beach parties, concerts and everyday games are held. Holiday entertainers encourage people to mingle and enjoy each others' company. The girls and boys from Gumda's kiddy consulate become sand sculptors while youngsters battle it out with beach soccer and volleyball or take a few spins on the water-skiing lake - see how varied life on the Baltic Sea can be!

On the barbecue beach on the Wolfsschlucht (beach section 5), event organisers and private individuals can organise fantastic events - in the midst of the splendid backdrop of the Bay of Lübeck. A rustic barbecue, seating and accessories can all be hired - all you have to do is bring the right atmosphere and food!

In autumn and winter, the beach at Scharbeutz - as well as for extended walks - becomes the venue for some unusual events. There's even horse-racing there. Whether it be windy and rainy or warm sunshine - the beach is a true vital force, a place of meeting, enjoyment and endless recuperation.
